This property has more elevation change than much of the Sandhills, as well as a rare plant called Pyxie-moss that blooms in winter.

Connecticut Ave. in Southern Pines for an easy 1-mile hike through old growth longleaf pine forest. You’ll meet the oldest-known living longleaf pine in the world as well as the former state champion longleaf!

Ring in the New Year at the Dewberry Drop in the Town of Cameron! The celebration takes place on Wednesday, December 31 at 6:00 p.m. at Cameron Elementary School. Old Fashioned Christmas will be held on Saturday, December 13 from 1-5pm at the Malcolm Blue Farm. It is a free event. The farmhouse will be open and decorated in the fashion of the 1800s. Light refreshments will be provided. The pack house will be open with children's crafts such as letters to Santa with feather pens and making bird feeders. The museum will also be open to visitors. Come celebrate Christmas, in the spirit of the 1800s! Santa will be there too!

Stroll the village’s downtown specialty shops, galleries, and boutiques. Enjoy extended hours and pop-up shops! The annual Village of Pinehurst Tree Lighting is schedule for 6:30pm in Tufts Memorial Park.

Witness the lighting of the Aberdeen Christmas tree and the arrival of Santa with special performances and light refreshments! The event will be held on Thursday, December 4th at 6:15pm at the Aberdeen Train Depot and Railroad Museum. The event is free of charge.

We will also be offering a free shuttle service provided by Sandhills Trolley that will pick up/drop off at our Recreation Office and at the corner of Main St & Sycamore (across from Pizzeria Grazia).

Just because the sun has set and the Carolina blue skies have waned does not mean golf at Pinehurst is done for the day. Kick off Thanksgiving Weekend with one of the newest and coolest trends on the links, Glow Golf. The Cradle, our 18-hole putting course, will be lit and waiting as you take aim at glowing pin sticks utilizing the GlowV2 ball, which performs just as well as a standard golf ball.

IMPORTANT: Tee Times begin at 6:10pm and the last tee time is at 9:30pm. You will select a tee time after selecting tickets. There is a maximum of 6 people per tee time. A treasured Southern Pines tradition for over a century, the Blessing of the Hounds will be held on Thursday, November 27th. Celebrate Thanksgiving by attending this memorable event in person, hosted by the non-profit organization Preserve the Sandhills. It’s a delightful way to kick off the holiday season. The Blessing begins promptly at 10:00 a.m., so visitors are encouraged to allow extra time—at least an hour—for parking and the walk from Lyell’s Meadow to Buchan Field.

Hot cider, a visit from Santa and Mrs. Claus and incredible food are perks to this event! An evening market at the cider house offers something for everyone!

The Festival D’Avion features classic and military aircraft displays, flyovers, precision jump teams, sightseeing tours, classic car displays, a “Junior Pilot” KidsZone, local vendors, food and beverage options — it’s the largest Halloween Candy giveaway in Moore County and fun for the entire family!
