Wasssil @ James Creek Cider House

Wasssil @ James Creek Cider House

“Join us on January 17th for our annual Wassail at James Creek!

We’ll gather with hot cider in hand and walk the orchard together as we toast to the trees for a healthy, plentiful harvest in the year ahead. This is one of our favorite traditions—and we’re excited to share it with you!

What is a Wassail?

Wassailing dates back to Old English orchard traditions, where villagers would visit the orchards in midwinter to “wake the trees,” chase away evil spirits, and encourage a fruitful season. The word wassail comes from the Old English wes hál, meaning “be in good health.”

Participants would sing, toast with warm cider, and offer blessings to the trees—placing toasted bread in their branches as a gift to the orchard spirits. It was a celebration of community, agriculture, and hope for abundance.

Come celebrate this fun tradition with us as we share good cheer, and welcome another year of growing in the orchard.

🎟 Tickets are available online or in the tasting room! https://square.link/u/UVSLnrSL

Bundle up, bring your friends, and let’s wassail together!”
