Join H.I.K.E at 9 AM (plan to begin hiking at 9.30 AM) for an easy going hike— letting kids explore and enjoy nature at their own pace. Plan to get to see the museum area, with an easy loop and some areas where the kids can play in a creek if the drought hasn’t dried it up! Ms. Kilian (group leader) says her and her family may tackle a longer slightly tougher trail after the large group hike if any attendees are interested.
Route: Laurel Trail
Distance: 0.7 miles
Difficulty: Easy
Terrain: Mostly natural-surface trail through wooded areas (don’t forget your sunscreen and bug spray!)
Estimated time: ~15 - 20 mins
About Homeschoolers Inspiring Kids to Explore (H.I.K.E)
Homeschoolers Inspiring Kids to Explore — is a homeschool-centered outdoor community rooted in the belief that time in nature nurtures wellness, connection, and growth. Inspired by sister gatherings in Pilot Mountain through the “Hiking Homeschoolers” community founded and led by Christina Prince, H.I.K.E. brings that same spirit of adventure, fellowship, and outdoor learning to homeschooling families throughout the Sandhills and surrounding areas!
