Keeping up with all the story times around Moore County can be a challenge—there are so many great options to choose from! While most listed here are hosted at local libraries, don’t miss a few standout extras:

Although not technically a library, you’ll definitely want to check out the free storytime at Pinehurst United Methodist Church with Rylee, and the uniquely themed story sessions at The Connection Corner, where stories are paired with something extra—like art, yoga, and/or mindfulness. Plus, special readings by visiting authors at The Country Bookshop will always be shared on our Calendar of Events.

While ages are listed, these programs are open to all—age ranges are only suggestions to help guide families. Here’s what you can expect each week in Pinehurst, Southern Pines, Carthage, Vass, Pinebluff, and beyond:

Mondays:

10:00 AM, Once Upon a Pine Storytime (Ages 0-2) with Rylee Hayes @ Pinehurst United Methodist Church, 4111 Airport Road, Pinehurst, NC: Join Rylee for a fun and engaging 30-minute storytime filled with stories, songs, and sweet moments to connect with your little ones. This one’s a local favorite!

TUESdays:

10:00 AM - 2:00 PM, Playful Learning (Ages 0-3) @ Given Memorial Library, 150 Cherokee Rd, Pinehurst, NC: Join this drop-in, open playtime for ages 0-3 years of age to interact with other children and have educational playtime at the Given Memorial Library!
10:15 AM - Baby Rhymes (Birth-24 months) @ Southern Pines Library, 170 W Connecticut Ave, Southern Pines NC: Repetition and comforting movements make this storytime perfect for early development. There are space constraints for indoor storytimes. An active library card is required. No more than one caregiver per child, please.

WEDNESdays:

9:30 AM - Baby Storytime (Newborn-18 Months) @ Moore County Library, 101 Saunders Street, Carthage, NC: Parents and caregivers will enjoy connecting with their little ones through stories, songs, play, and conversation—helping build a strong foundation for early literacy. This storytime takes place every Wednesday with two sessions: one from 9:30–10:15 AM and another from 10:30–11:15 AM.
10:30 AM - Baby Storytime (Newborn-18 Months) @ Moore County Library, 101 Saunders Street, Carthage, NC
10:00 AM - 12:00 PM - Learn and Play @ Southern Pines Library, 170 W Connecticut Ave, Southern Pines NC: Come in for an open play date with your toddler or preschooler! There will be developmental toys and puzzles as well as early literacy tips on display for parents and caregivers to incorporate into their daily activities.
