Moving to Moore County? Here’s the Relocation Guide for Families and PCS Moves

Just got orders to Fort Bragg? Trading city traffic for longleaf pines? Either way, moving to Moore County starts with the same three questions: Which town? How long is the commute? And when do I need to sign the kids up for school?

I'm a military spouse and a mom who relocated to Southern Pines myself, and I teamed up with MoCo Mom to answer all of it in one free, downloadable guide. Here's a peek at what's inside.

3 things I wish I'd known before moving to Moore County

1. Your Fort Bragg gate matters more than your town. Bragg is huge, and commutes can run anywhere from about 20 to 45 minutes depending on where you work on post. The guide walks through how to factor that into your search.

2. School deadlines come early. Kindergarten registration and school transfer requests happen in late winter and spring for the next school year. If you're moving this summer, you may need to act before you arrive. The guide lists what to do and when.

3. Finding your people takes a plan. The first few months in a new place can be lonely. Events like Wednesdays at Weymouth and the New Mother Support Group made all the difference for me, and the guide is packed with more.

Southern Pines vs. Pinehurst (and more towns to know)

The question I hear most is "Southern Pines or Pinehurst?" They're next-door neighbors with very different personalities, and there are four more towns worth a look before you decide. The guide puts all six side by side so you can compare them in one place.
